This year, Voice of Equality led 25 elementary assemblies across grades 1 through 5, sparking conversations about empathy, identity, and inclusion in classrooms across our district. We also participated in United We Walk, where our breakout room invited students and families to create MLK-themed friendship bracelets and coloring pages—small acts rooted in a big message of unity.

This work wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible team of student volunteers. Thank you to Farin Rahman, Haniyah Siddiqui, Pola Bartus, Grace Hakim, Inaya Qureshi, Julianna Jones, Kate Mandel, Daniel Kim, Gurleen Kaler, Meadow Faraci, Jadore Wells, Bryn Cusack, Lennon Kawabe, Mia Lake, Aliyah Donley, Rebekah Kim, and Dakotah Elledge. Your dedication, creativity, and compassion brought every assembly to life.

We’re also deeply grateful to Ms. Sonja James, Executive Director of Educational Equity and Inclusion at West Bloomfield School District, for her guidance and unwavering support of VOE over the past few years. Her mentorship has shaped our growth more than we can express.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers and principals who welcomed us into their classrooms and helped coordinate our assemblies—you made this possible. And of course, a special thank-you to the incredible students we worked with this year. Your curiosity, kindness, and enthusiasm are what make this work so meaningful.

Finally, congratulations to our president, Inaya Qureshi, for receiving the Princeton Prize in Race Relations—an honor that reflects her broader commitment to civil rights and community advocacy, including but not limited to her work with VOE.
